April 9 WIP for Good - Knockers Night
Drop in nights with a community minded focus.
Service Description
NEW FOR 2026 - Giving back to our community will be a focus this year. We are starting with two different types of working nights - Knitted (or Crocheted) Knockers and warm weather gear for local and DTES shelters. Knitted Knockers are soft, handmade prothesis that women who have lost their breasts to breast cancer can wear inside their bras. They are washable, breathable, and look more natural than surgical implants. Knitted Knockers of Canada has an approved list of yarns they will accept and I have two of their varieties for sale in my shop. Noble Cotton and Cherub DK (this one is specifically for swimmer knockers). I will have a selection of both of these available for purchase at Kim's or you can place an order on my website for me to bring to Kim's. If you are supplying your own yarn, ONLY use a yarn from the approved list which you can find here https://knittedknockerscanada.com/how-to-help/approved-yarn-list/ I have the pattern for making the knockers in both knit and crochet version. I also made a video for the crochet one when we ran this at my old store. You can access the video here (I will be rebranding this and moving it to my YouTube channel eventually). https://youtu.be/uPruNA4HSDI?si=DNvBms6_RBXQ_BSO While we are focusing on making Knockers, you can bring any WIP to work on. Your WIP 10-pack will work for these nights also. Students enrolled in classes, these night are NOT free with your class (only Wednesday WIPs are) so you will have to pay the $6 drop in fee. This time is intended to be social so please feel free to bring your own snacks and beverages. NEW FOR 2026 The shelves in our classroom are full of yarns available for purchase from Alison's online store. The intention is to have one of each colour so you can look, touch, put combinations together, and be inspired. However, it has become too difficult to monitor which colours need replenishing when on the fly purchases are made so that will no longer be allowed. Alison is happy to process orders for you during classes and WIP nights, with the understanding that they will be fulfilled the next day from her stock at her home and once available for pick up you will be sent an email. If you know what you want please place your order prior to the WIP night and Alison will be happy to bring your order to WIP. All orders can be placed at https://www.knotjustyarn.ca/category/all-products PS - if this is your first time attending, you will be emailed the address beforehand.
Upcoming Sessions
Cancellation Policy
We understand that life happens and sometimes you can't make it to class. Our classes are very popular and our instructors have already put in many hours of their time prepping each class before we even post them for registration. To respect their time, expertise, and efforts, we ask if you must cancel your entire class registration that you do so at your earliest convenience. Any cancellation requests that are made less than 24 hours before the start of the first class in a series of classes, or after a course has started, or within 24 hours of a workshop/event will not be granted. Cancellation requests made with more than 24 hours notice of the start of the class or event will be processed at our earliest convenience less a 10% admin fee. If you have registered for a course and find you need to miss one or more of the class dates, alternate arrangements can be made to allow you to catch up. These may include but are not restricted to: emailed course materials like hand outs or instructional videos; one-on-one private instruction time to be arranged between you and the instructor (should the instructor offer such services); or free entry to a drop-in session should any happen to fall withing the scope of the class timeline.
