Service Description

Once you know how to knit and purl, the rest is gravy on top! In this class we will be 'taking the scenic route' to learning new knitting techniques. Every week I will be teaching a set of new knitting techniques through video lessons and in-person demonstrations. We will make practice swatches to get comfortable with the new skill. And then put them to use with a series of fun mini projects! Week 1: New Skill: Yarn-overs, and decreasing stitches (k2tog and ssk) *bonus: a new stretchy bind off that uses the yarn-over* Mini Project: Leaf Coaster Week 2: New Skill: Increasing (make 1 right and left) Mini Project: Baby booties Week 3: New Skill: Intro to cables Mini Project: Celtic Bookmark Week 4: New Skill: Knitting in the round Begin work on the Final Project: Cabled cowl with leaf lacework Week 5: No new skills! Review and catch up on any that you missed or struggled with. Keep working on the cowl and ask any questions. What is included in your Class Fee: - Yarn: 2 skeins of cherub DK for all the projects (please see images for current in-stock colour selection and state your choice in the registration form. Both skeins will be the same colour. - A cable needle - All printed material in a folder for easy reference - follow up emails with video links - FREE entry into any WIP night being held during class time (currently we have WIPs scheduled on Feb 12, 19, and 26). Registration is required, please email Alison which nights you'd like to attend so she can save your spot. Spaces are limited at WIP nights. Other supplies needed: Knitting needles: - pair of size US8 (5.0mm), any style (straight, DPN, circular) If you took beginners knitting, you will already have these. - 1 circular knitting needle. Size US4 (3.5mm) with a 14 inch cable. - Stitch markers: 7 total stitch markers. 1 should be "special" (different color) to mark the beginning of the round. Small ring markers will work best, or even little split rings from the jewellery making section. - scrap worsted weight yarn for swatches and practice. Cancellation Policy

We understand that life happens and sometimes you can't make it to class. Our classes are very popular and our instructors have already put in many hours of their time prepping each class before we even post them for registration. To respect their time, expertise, and efforts, we ask if you must cancel your entire class registration that you do so at your earliest convenience. Any cancellation requests that are made less than 24 hours before the start of the first class in a series of classes, or after a course has started, or within 24 hours of a workshop/event will not be granted. Cancellation requests made with more than 24 hours notice of the start of the class or event will be processed at our earliest convenience less a 10% admin fee. If you have registered for a course and find you need to miss one or more of the class dates, alternate arrangements can be made to allow you to catch up. These may include but are not restricted to: emailed course materials like hand outs or instructional videos; one-on-one private instruction time to be arranged between you and the instructor (should the instructor offer such services); or free entry to a drop-in session should any happen to fall withing the scope of the class timeline.
