Service Description

“Reliable Toe Up Socks” is a thoughtfully designed sock pattern by Ellen Coy, perfect as your first toe-up sock or a reliable blank canvas to customize. In this class, you’ll learn Judy’s Magic Cast On, a seamless method that creates a smooth, closed toe; the Fleegle Heel, a comfortable no-pickup heel; and the Italian Sewn Bind Off, a polished and stretchy finish that creates a professional-looking cuff. This pattern includes clear written instructions, detailed row and stitch trackers that show changing stitch counts, and a visual construction blueprint to support you every step of the way. The first time I knit it, I immediately thought it would be the perfect pattern for learning toe-up socks. Knitting with sock-weight yarn is incredibly satisfying. You get beautifully neat little stitches and a very comfortable finished sock- BUT because the stitches are small, there are more of them! Please make sure you’ll have time to work on your sock between classes so you can stay on track. Included in your class fee: - 5 in-person classes as well as free admission to up to 5 WIP nights that fall during your class. - Video tutorials for you to refer to later - one ball of sock yarn - details emailed after registration - the pattern (the designer seems to have gone AWOL, we are trying to contact her but until we hear from her, we will provide you the pattern) Difficulty Level: This class is best suited for confident beginner to intermediate knitters. You should already feel comfortable knitting and purling and have completed a few small or medium projects. Experience knitting in the round is strongly recommended so you can focus on learning sock-specific techniques, especially the heel, without feeling overwhelmed. Other supplies needed: - Knitting Needles - choose your preferred method for knitting in the round: Magic Loop Method: • One long circular needle, approximately 40 inches / 100 cm in US 1 / 2.25 mm Two Circular Needles: • Two circular needles, each approximately 24 inches / 60 cm, both US 1 / 2.25 mm Flexible DPNs: • A set of flexible double-pointed needles (usually sold in sets of 3) (Please note, Knot Just Yarn does not currently have a supplier for these). (I do not recommend using regular rigid double-pointed needles, as the pattern is not written for this method.) - scissors - measuring tape - yarn needle - stitch markers (both locking and circular)
